The idea that another person will hurt another peron with deliberance is incomprehensable for him. I does not understand, just like you do not understand. You can not teach him much more since I am sure your first reaction is exactly the same:"How can somebody do this to another human being?" The only difference is that you do not really expect an anwser anymore and you have somewhere accepted that there are things around you that you can not explain. Your children will go through the same process and just the fact that they ask you the question gives you the answer that they are on the right track and that you have actually done your job. Now I can of course get into a whole monologue about nature and nurture, but I do not think that is necessary.
